Cucur bayao, one of Pangkep's unique cakes has a very sweet taste and is always served at weddings. In a bosara, a high-legged tray containing cakes, cucuru bayao is served with barongko, taloba, jackfruit seeds, pelita cakes, and attitudeoro. In Makassar, 'cucuru' means cake, while 'bayao' means egg. Indeed, this cake is made from eggs, sugar and walnuts. The shape is flat and dark yellow. The texture is soft with a sweet taste as well as savory typical of egg aroma. The thick sweetness of the cakes served at the Bugis Makassar wedding party is a symbol of the hope of the sweetness of life that the bride will wade. Another myth, the girl who tasted this traditional cake at a wedding ceremony believed her soul mate would arrive soon.

Because it uses lots of eggs, the color of this cake becomes golden. The color symbolizes glory, grandeur, and a meaningful goodness. Not only full of meaning, the presentation of cucuru bayao is also unique. After steaming, the cake that looks similar to this tray must be soaked first with sugar water until it is absorbed out. Then the cake is ready to be enjoyed.
